School Fix® is the only authorized national distributor for Virco replacement parts in the United States. If you need factory-original parts — not aftermarket substitutes — this is the only place to source them.
Since 1950, Virco has been America's most trusted school furniture manufacturer, and it is not uncommon to find Virco chairs and desks that are 30, 40, even 50 years old still in active use in school buildings across the country. When those chairs need repair, School Fix® is the only supplier in the nation stocking factory-original parts (the same components that come on new Virco furniture) available for individual repair orders with same-day shipping.
We stock replacement parts for the following Virco furniture lines:
Virco 9000 Series: America's most popular school stacking chair
Virco 2000 Series: Polypropylene shell chairs and desks

How to Identify Your Virco Series
Virco 9000 Series
The most common chair in American K–12 schools. Identified by the injection-molded polyethylene one-piece shell with a contoured seat and ventilated back, on a tubular steel frame with either four legs or a sled-leg base.
Virco 2000 Series
Similar silhouette to the 9000 but uses a polypropylene shell with a distinctive waterfall edge at the seat front and an inverted triangular slit in the back for ventilation.
Virco Zuma Series
Boomerang-shaped solid plastic desktop, adjustable height from 22"–34", with a 1-1/4" tubular steel frame. Popular in flexible and collaborative learning spaces.
Virco IQ Series
Look for the model number stamped on the underside of the seat. IQ Series chairs feature adjustable height mechanisms and a contemporary profile.
Virco 3000 Series
Sled-leg frame with high-density polyethylene seat and back, sold in cartons of two. Common in combination desk configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I identify my Virco chair series?
The most reliable physical identifiers: shell material — 9000 Series shells are polyethylene (slightly flexible, smooth texture); 2000 Series are polypropylene (similar but with a waterfall edge at the seat front). Leg style — sled leg vs. four-leg vs. adjustable-height post. Desktop shape — Zuma Series has a distinctive boomerang shape. Most Virco furniture also has a model number stamped on the underside of the seat or chair back. If you still can't identify the series, send a photo to sales@schoolfix.com or call 1-800-762-4899.
What's the difference between factory and universal Virco replacement parts?
Factory parts are OEM components manufactured by Virco to the exact specifications of the original furniture. They are guaranteed to fit perfectly and are the right choice for structural repairs like shell replacements, where fit precision matters. Universal parts are compatible aftermarket components designed to work with Virco furniture at a lower price point — the right choice for glides, tips, and casters, where near-perfect fit is sufficient and cost matters. For most schools, a mix of both makes sense: factory shells, universal glides.
How long does it take to replace Virco 9000 chair shells?
Once you have the replacement shells and a drill, the process is straightforward: drill out the existing rivets holding the old shell to the frame, inspect the frame for any cracks or bends, position the new shell and drill the attachment holes, then secure with the provided hardware. Most experienced custodians complete 10–15 chairs per hour once they have the workflow down. Shells ship undrilled to allow accurate positioning on your specific frames.
Can I order Virco replacement parts in my school colors?
For Virco 9000 Series shells: Navy Blue is stocked for same-day shipping. Eleven additional colors are available by production order; contact us for current color options and lead times. Virco cafeteria table stool top replacements are also available in multiple popular colors. Schools ordering for a full renovation often request a color swatch set before committing to a production run.
How much can my school save by repairing Virco chairs instead of buying new?
The savings depend on the scope and number of chairs, but the math is consistently favorable. Replacing the shell of a Virco 9000 frame (the most common repair) costs a fraction of a new chair. For a school with 500 chairs needing shell replacement, the difference between full replacement and shell-only repair is typically large enough to fund other capital needs.
