It is 5in. wide to fit doors with glass. It rests firmly against the door jamb and opens without key or combination so it can easily attach and detach from doors. This latch is meant to secure an unoccupied building. You can get a cable lock to hold the Security Latch at the location.  Also if you have a deeper frame and need more depth 1/4in. Shim Plates are also available.
